Your Mag-Probe is a time saver. I work for a gas company and almost everything is explosion proof.  To test a solenoid valve without your Mag-Probe tester we would have to open the explosion proof housing to check the voltage across the solenoid.  This can be time consuming.  With your probe we just hold it up against the solenoid and watch the LED light up when the solenoid is energized.  We have been using them for years and what a time saver.

Bartol Mag-Probe Safe to Use in Explosive Environments

Understanding the value of intrinsically safe test equipment in the Oil and Natural Gas Industries is important for technicians safety.  Bartol Research designed the Mag-Probe to be the most versatile solenoid valve and relay tester on the market today.  One of our biggest concerns was developing the tester to be intrinsically safe so it could be used quickly to separate electrical from mechanical problems in seconds, without having any explosive issues.  In most cases our Mag-Probe can make its test through a solenoid valve, relay, or contactor explosive shielding.


 Bartol Mag-Probe Underwater Test

Solenoid valve testers that operate using interchangeable batteries are not  intrinsically safe. They are at risk of corroding internal contact points rendering them useless to use when testing solenoid valves and relays in corrosive environments, and impossible to use underwater.

The  Bartol Mag-Probe is a completely self contained test instrument allowing flexibility for use in conditions where interchangeable battery operated testers have a high failure rate.  If you have ever used a flashlight with interchangeable batteries I’m sure you remember pounding on the flashlight to get it to work.  This will never happen with the Mag-Probe because every connection is soldered and totally sealed, isolating the internal components.The Bartol Mag-Probe allows use in liquid, explosive or corrosive environments making it an intrinsically safe tool for technicians testing solenoid valves or relays on off shore oil rigs, natural gas operations, refineries or chemical processing plants.  To make it easy when testing large contactors with overlapping magnetic fields we have included a white protective shield with the Mag-Probe. This protective shield can slide over the sensing tip of the Mag-Probe to de-sensitize it’s sensitivity.  This will reduce the chance of detecting overlapping magnetic fields generated by large solenoid valves, or contactors,  in close proximity of each other.  The white shield can also be used when storing the Mag-Probe when not is use.  Always store the Mag-Probe away from magnetic fields.

Mag-Probe can make a solenoid Valve Test in Extreme Weather Conditions.  One of the biggest problems in working on solenoid valves with test equipment in cold environments is freezing meters and intermittent problems because of the weather. Bob Bartol has spent his whole life working with electronics in almost every capacity and spent many hours in Physics classes. He currently holds 4 U.S. patents and has been making a living off one of the patents "The Bartol Mag-Probe" for over twenty years. Bartol Research's Mag-Probe now has a global reach and is dramatically reducing trouble shooting downtime anywhere a solenoid valve. relay, or contactor is used. F111 Air Force Projects - European Flight Competition January 1968 Bob attended electronics school in the Air Force. Upon graduation he was assigned to a fighter wing in Germany. During his assignment he prepared seven aircraft for European competition. The fighter wings aircraft won the competition. Bob then returned to the United States and taught advanced radar for two years. Two years later, he returned to Europe. During this assignment, Air Force headquarters Europe selected Bob to open a Precision Measuring Equipment Laboratory (P.M.E.L) in England. It was the first of its kind in the Air Force. Upon his return to the United States, Air Force headquarters assigned Bob to Air Force research command in Florida. This was strictly a scientific assignment for research and development. After three years he moved from Eglin AFB in Florida to Edwards Air Force Base in California where he had direct contact with the National Bureau of Standards and supported research and development aircraft. During this assignment, he designed a modification for the TF X fighter (F-111). This modification made possible an additional 9800 flying hours per year. The F111 was the first swing wing aircraft in history. General Dynamics completed the modification prior to acceptance by the U.S. Air Force. Modification of F111 Aircraft General Dynamics March 1968 As a result of increasing this flying time Bob Received an award from Edwards Air Force Base for Increasing flying time of the F111 by 9,800 hours per year. The Award was Presented by Colonel Grumbles to TSGT Bob Bartol on June 17, 1968
